From Existential Crisis to Vocational Call

Rev. Gregory's call to ministry is rooted in a profound personal transformation, a shift from "Death to Life," which gives theological weight to his vocational trajectory. Prior to his conversion, he found the proverb about good intentions paving the road to hell to resonate deeply. While his actions were guided by a yearning for 'good,' they lacked the essential framework of Christ.

This changed on April 26, 2005, during his time at Georgia Southern University. A series of personal setbacks led to an existential crisis and depression, culminating in the contemplation of suicide. Despite a childhood disillusionment with religion and a prior rejection of church, Gregory accepted a persistent invitation from his college roommate to attend a service at Spirit and Truth Worship Center.

The sermon, delivered by Pastor Paul R. Johnson, centered on humanity's inherent sinfulness and estrangement from God, emphasizing the wages of sin as divine wrath and death. The contrast, however, was in the sacrificial love of God—the sending of Jesus Christ to live a sinless life and take the punishment for sin on the cross. The theological implication, as Pastor Johnson presented, was that God made Christ, "who knew no sin to become sin on my behalf so that I could be adopted as his child through his receptive death on the cross." The message of saving grace and transformative forgiveness resonated deeply. This realization of merely "existing" rather than "truly living" prompted Gregory to respond to the altar call, embracing Christ as Lord and Savior.

This singular event lit a fire in his heart, compelling him to "walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called" (Ephesians 4:1, ESV), recognizing the expensive debt paid on his behalf. This theological conviction has since driven over twenty years of ministry service across multiple states and diverse ministerial settings.
